I appreciate this work on the value of diversity. Even though I am not diverse by nationality myself, I want our country to welcome immigrants like my parents who came to the US in 1929 and 1930 having heard of the "streets paved with gold" only to leave one depressed country, Ireland, to land in another. We grew up celebrating our "Irishness" through dance lessons, parties, parades, and many friends. We always were taught to love our country and respect others.

The opportunities exist for new immigrants with similar needs and aspirations. Let's welcome them also.

Thanks, Steve. Your essay is an excellent reminder of the importance of --and the blessings of--immigration in the history of this country. A history so many people want to ignore these days. Without diversity all ecosystems are doomed to fail.
