You have just written a poem too. It’s exquisite.

Your words here are so worthwhile to ponder. I believe there is literally "overkill." I compare it to the slaughter during Ireland's troubles over 60 years and more over the centuries. But, in Belfast there was a peaceful resolution in 1998, and it is holding. I hold out hope with perhaps a new Harris administration. After spending time with Palestinian individuals, young and not so young, during an extended trip to the Holy Land and also having once been a long-time employee at a Jewish hospital, I weigh both sides and wonder and weep for the children.

Very good article. I, too, agree that Israel should have every right to defend itself. But 1,300 vs 40,000 is overkill, don't you think? Israel is targeting journalists, emergency aid workers, humanitarian workers. On purpose. A line must be drawn somewhere... I think Israel has more than crossed that line. And as long as America and Europe keeps sending them bombs, weapons of war, and now our BOOTS ON THE GROUND. We will have to face the consequences.

Do we think that we can' t face another 9-11? Or an Oklahoma Bombing? Or several bombings at once in major cities, ports of entry, and military facilities all over the Nation, that would devastate and disrupt food and medical supplies, not to mention other necessary supplies, that keep this Nation running? Who knows where else. All we have to do is keep pissing off the Palestinians, the Lebanese, and the Iranians and watch what happens. Cities like Flint, MI where GM Plants are located. GM is the largest commercial provider of military vehicles in history, having manufactured vehicles for every U.S. conflict since World War I. (1) It would surely be a target. As would Dayton, Ohio. where Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is oneof the most important Air Force Bases in the Nation. Warner Robions Air Force Base is also im[portant for it's design, building, and testing of aircraft for the military. It is located in Warner Robins, GA. There are many, many, other bases, camps, and forts that house Marines, Army, Navy, and Coast Guard and the equipment that they each use, build, and store. I think we really need to start thinking about these things. And soon.

Respectfully,

Peggy L. Van Sickle

Thanks for your thoughtful and well researched comment. If we can only get beyond the jingoistic rhetoric and have thoughtful discussions, it would go a long way to being prepared on possible threats, rather than all the imagined ones so many focus on.
